This Benjamin Cilley family is very interesting. Benjamin had a sister named Polly who married James Emerson. James, died when he was 41 and was the Father of the Emersons who moved to Warrensburg. Polly (Cilley) Emerson remarried Aaron Pingree. Aaron was a superb cattle farmer and also a deaf mute. When he died in 1845 Polly moved to Warrensburg. She is buried in the Warrensburg cemetery with the Halls. One might ask why with the Halls. Her daughter Lydia married Simeon Hall and this formed the basis for the Warrensburg Hall family.
ReplyDeleteBenjamin Cilley's first wife was Polly Emerson a sister of James Emerson. She died at age 44 and Benjamin remarried Betsey Batchelder. Betsey was the older sister of Moses Cilley, Benjamin's son. When Stephen Cilley's wife, Serena, could not pay the taxes on their Bolton property it was sold by the Warren County Sheriff at auction. Moses Cilley was the sucessful bidder. Now stay with me, Benjamin Cilley had a son Benjamin. He married Caroline Peasley. Benjamin died at age 35. Stephen Emerson, son of James Emerson and Polly Cilley lived in Horicon. With the death of Benjamin Cilley, Jr. and Stephen's wife Sally Morse, he went to Newbury,NH and married Caroline (peasley) Cilley. They lived in Horicon. Caroline and Benjamin are buried in Lakeside Cemetery in Newbury, NH. Stephen Emerson is buried in the South Horicon Cemetery. Benjamin Cilley and both of his wives are buried in the Bean Cemetery in Newbury, NH.
James Emerson, the youngest son Of James Emerson and Polly Cilley was the Father of Albert Cilley Emerson the founder of the A C Emerson Company in Warrensburg.
