Notes:
Thomas Bradbury, Capt., of Salisbury; Maine, freeman May 1640; received land in the "first division," 1640, and 1641; one of the most prominent citizens of Salisbury, Maine, town clerk, schoolmaster, justice of the peace, representative in General Court seven years, 1651 to 1666, county recorder, associate judge, etc.
Most of the ancient records of Salisbury and many of the county, were written by him. He was of York, ME 1634. Capt. and Mrs. Bradbury were second on list of Salisbury Church members, 1687. She was tried for witchcraft in 1692, ably and courageously defended by Maj. Robert Pike, convicted, but not executed. The papers pertaining to the case are of deep interest, and show the high estimation in which she was held.
Thomas was an agent for Sir Ferdinando Gorges, the proprietor of the Province of Maine. He first
appeared in Agamenticus, now York, Maine, in 1634.
