A couple of weeks ago we talked about Amos Hastings who was brevetted
to the rank of Brigadier General after the Revolutionary War. It should be noted that he was not the only
member of his family who served his country during the Revolutionary War.
His Father, John Hastings, Jr., 1717/18 – 1794 served as a
Private in the 3rd New Hampshire Regiment. John is my 6th Great Uncle, the
son of John Hastings and Edna (Bailey) Hastings.
Amos, 1757 - 1829, the husband of Elizabeth Wiley, is the
son of John Hastings, Jr. & his first wife Rebecca Kelley.
Levi Hastings, 1762 – 1832, the son of John Hastings, Jr.
and his second wife Mary Amy also served in the Revolutionary War. His wife Phebe (Corliss) Hastings received a
Revolutionary War pension until her death in 1854.
Both Amos & Levi are my first cousins, six times removed.
